Françoise Pétrovitch exhibits a new video in Verneuil-sur-Avre.
Françoise Pétrovitch's studios have been based in Verneuil-sur-Avre for six years. It was therefore only natural that she accepted the invitation from the town hall's cultural department to create an original video based on the local area. Inspired by the photogenic nature of St Nicolas Abbey, she worked with Hervé Plumet to shoot a live-action film using the technique of painting on glass, commonly known as ‘matte painting’.
Répondre Présent a video by Françoise Pétrovitch and Hervé Plumet.
In an abandoned place, a guitar forgotten on a chair is ‘awakened’ by a character who slowly appears. The notes gradually fill every room in the building and trigger the arrival of fantastical and colourful presences. Everywhere, in the dormitory, in the cells and in the long corridors, these ghosts respond to the call.
An exhibition and workshops to come and create.
Projected on the first floor of the Espace St Laurent, the sound video will resonate through the wooden nave for more than four weeks. Children and adults are invited to the ground floor to participate in workshops. Many other events are offered free of charge and open to all during the month of the exhibition: readings, performances, conferences, collaborative dances.
