Inspired by the mythical figure of the wandering knight, The Wandering Knight is a performance work that is at once strange and familiar. Abraham Poincheval sets out to walk through several emblematic sites that contributed to the founding of the Swiss Confederation. Beginning at the Rütli Meadow and travelling to Fribourg, he is clad in a medieval suit of armour weighing more than 30 kilograms. The knight appears to have stepped directly out of a distant founding tale. He becomes the catalyst for a landscape in which different historical periods overlap and narratives intertwinememories, histories, myths, and legends merging into a single experience.
