The film Entrée Libre (2013) is the result of an open invitation to Françoise Pétrovitch to explore the theme of intimacy as related to the town of Thouars in the Deux-Sevres region of France. This invitation was accorded by Jean-Luc Dorchies, who at the time was director of the town’s Centre d’Art La Chapelle Jeanne d’Arc. “It was however the empty shop windows that immediately caught Françoise Pétrovitch’s eye” Dorchies states. She thus thought up and produced large-format drawings of strange figures and animals on these abandoned shop-fronts. This live-action film examines the way we see town centres and questions their desertification through the creation of these ghostly figures that haunt the streets of Thouars.
