Every exhibition begins with an image.

Before it tells a story, an image acts. It summons memories, references and emotions. It opens up a space in which the viewer’s gaze projects its own narratives. Des voyages immobiles was born from this intuition. The paintings brought together here, drawn from the collection of the Frac-Artothèque Nouvelle-Aquitaine, do not seek to illustrate a story; rather, they suggest the possibility of one. A setting, a light, a figure or a landscape is enough to conjure a fiction that each viewer completes in their own way. At the Théâtre Jean Lurçat in Aubusson, these works naturally encounter the world of the stage: they become silent sets in which something seems about to happen. The film La Grande Terre and its accompanying costumes extend this reflection on the evocative power of images, inviting each visitor to embark on their own immobile journey.
