The self as multiple, the title of the third temporary exhibition of the MACAM Collection, presents works by portuguese and international artists who, through different languages of contemporary art, explore the notions of body, identity, and perception.

Rejecting the idea of self as sole and immutable, this exhibition proposes a reflection on the ontological questions of what it means to be, to exist, and how we present ourselves in relation to others. Bringing together works of painting, photography, installation, and sculpture, The self as multiple is part of the debate on the subject, its mirroring, and otherness.

Works by artists such as Ana Vieira, Helena Almeida, Horácio Frutuoso, John Baldessari, José Pedro Croft, Juan Muñoz, Júlia Ventura, Vik Muniz, Yu Nishimura, among others, are presented.
