The new exhibition in the collections of the Musée régional d'art contemporain Occitanie borrows its title ALLONS from a mural by the artist MCMitout. This injunction can express consolation, affection, encouragement, annoyance or impatience. This word - with its many meanings - has been used to bring together works by more than 40 artists and create a dialogue between them in this new display of the collections.

This exhibition focuses on artists whose work echoes contemporary issues, whether ecological, political or poetic. These artists maintain a relationship with the present, while opening up new horizons for the construction of a shared space.

As it does every year, this is an opportunity for the Mrac to completely revamp its display, offering a new variation based on its collection of over 710 works. A number of recent acquisitions are unveiled in a display that offers a dialogue between works by artists of different generations, providing a fresh perspective on the museum's collections. The display is not chronological, but draws on a variety of techniques (paintings, drawings, photographs, video, sculptures, installations, etc.) to explore the work of leading artists on the contemporary scene.

A large proportion of the works - never before shown at the museum - are recent acquisitions, with a significant number of gifts from artists or collectors enriching the collection. They are displayed alongside the Mrac's historic collection and a selection of the 216 works from the Fonds national d'art contemporain collection on deposit at the museum. The presentation of the collections allows visitors to discover the milestones of artistic creation and the debates they have sparked off since the 1960s. Entitled ALLONS, the tour alternates immersive works, rooms dedicated to one artist, key movements in the history of art and more thematic rooms.
