Born in 1970 in Schaffhausen, Olaf Breuning is one of the most internationally successful Swiss artists of his generation. The renowned artist returns to Switzerland this year with a major solo exhibition – and, 25 years after his first exhibition at the Museum zu Allerheiligen, he also returns to his hometown, Schaffhausen. Breuning works with a wide range of media, including photography, video, sculpture and installation. The irresponsible use of resources and the environmental crisis play a major role in his recent work. The failures, naivety and stupidity that characterise certain human behaviours are laid bare without mercy, as are the absurd and the comic.
