Every exhibition begins with an image.
Before telling a story, an image has an impact. It evokes memories, references, and emotions. It opens up a space where the viewer projects their own narratives. “Des voyages immobiles” was born from this intuition. The paintings on display, drawn from the collection of the Frac-Artothèque Nouvelle-Aquitaine, do not seek to illustrate a story; rather, they suggest the possibility of one. A setting, a light, a character, or a landscape is enough to conjure a fiction that each viewer completes in their own way. At the Théâtre Jean Lurçat in Aubusson, these works naturally intersect with the world of the stage: they become silent stages where something seems on the verge of happening. The film La Grande Terre and its accompanying costumes extend this exploration of the evocative power of images, inviting each visitor to construct their own motionless journey.
